Gary Coscia President & CEO, Largo Capital

Gary Coscia

Gary Coscia is president and CEO of Largo Capital, a mortgage banking company with nearly $600 million in annual revenues. The company is headquartered in suburban Buffalo, has offices in Manhattan and Toronto, and is stocked with Canisius graduates, many from the one-year MBA program. “We’ve had great success with Canisius graduates and we’ll continue to hire them,” says Coscia. “We’ve probably hired one to two Canisius graduates each year for the last 10 years. In my eyes, Canisius is the only local school that has a legitimate MBA program. I want to hire sharp kids who will stay in Buffalo, and Dr. George Palumbo has done a great job with the program and with helping find great hires for us.”

Coscia mentors a one-year MBA student each year and has the following Canisius graduates on staff:

  • Vice President of Loan Administration and 2002 graduate Jordan Mikula
  • Director of Marketing and 2005 MBA graduate Lori Tirado
  • Senior Underwriter and 2009 MBA graduate Jean Lorigo
  • Senior Underwriter and 2009 MBA graduate Kevin Celniker
  • Service Coordinator and 2011 MBA graduate Chris Kennedy
  • Account Executive and 2012 MBA graduate Kevin Ross, who also plays professionally with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League

“I tell people that you’ll be more valuable working in a smaller company like Largo than with a really big company,” says Coscia. “Here, you’ll be involved with so many aspects of the company. You’ll do deals. You’ll do marketing. You’ll get a chance to touch every aspect of the business. We tell everyone we hire that this is like owning your own franchise – you get to do your own deals.”
