Dr. Fisher's fields of interest include women writers from Jane Austen to Virginia Woolf and Toni Morrison, the intersections between literature and film, the connections between the study of literature and community service, and literary criticism as ongoing debate. She has spoken on women’s issues at numerous international conferences and symposia, and she organizes the annual I. Joan Lorch luncheon and awards ceremony which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to promote women's causes at Canisius.
