Thomas J. Caulfield, PhD Professor Emeritus
Dr. Thomas J. Caulfield, Professor Emeritus, came to Canisius College in 1969. He became the Chairman of the Department of Counselor Education and remained as the administrative head of the department through its subsequent incarnation as a program and then again as a department ending in 1997. Dr. Caulfield’s leadership took the counseling program from a relatively small academic unit of only two professors to a robust program with five full time professors. He received the Koessler Award for the distinguished professor at Canisius College in 1997, and the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the State University at Buffalo in 2000. He is a past President of the Western New York Counselor’s Association and past President of the New York State Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors. He retired from Department duties in 2002.
