Funding Political Activity
Good citizenship, political activity and community service are encouraged by Canisius College. Those planning political activities on and off campus should be aware that government regulations prohibit persons or organizations who supervise federally assisted programs from using federal funds for any partisan political activity (one controlled by single party or group). Since federal funds augment the college’s revenue, the college is prohibited from contributing to any political activity or from reimbursing any faculty or staff member for a political contribution. These restrictions stem from the Hatch Act and several other federal acts and amendments. Questions regarding such activities should be referred to the vice president for business and finance
