Annual Report of the Permanent Chair of Polish Culture at Canisius College for September 2006 to December 2007  

Film Festival- November 2007 at the Market Arcade - Polish Film Festival.  Films presented included: The Immensity of (in)justice, Saviour Square, Gdansk Railway Station, Persona non grata, The Warrior, and Crown Witness. 

Lecture- October 2007 - Wanda Slawinski: Ignancy Domeyko

Concert- October 2007 at the Montante Cultural Center – Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Persis Vehar performing the Chopin Fantasy on Polish Airs.  (Co-sponsored with Arts Canisius)

Lecture- September  2007 at Montante Cultural Center – Lecture on Pope John Paul II by his biographer, George Weigel.  Co-sponsored with the Global Study of Religion Christ & Culture Lecture Series

Dance Performance - Bialy Orzel – The White Eagle Polish Song and Dance Ensemble of Toronto, Ontario performance on October 20, 2006 at the Montante Cultural Center.

Library Exhibit - Exhibit on Pope John Paul II in the Bouwhuis Library throughout the month of October.

Film Festival - First Annual Polish Film Festival at the Market Arcade from November 9th-12th.  Four contemporary films presented: The Collector, Still Alive, Jasminum, I'll Show You including a presentation and discussion by Marek Haltoff

Concert - Jacek Muzyk, principal French Hornist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Igor Lipinski, accompanist, presented a French Horn Recital on March 11, 2007 at the Montante Cultural Center to benefit Polish Service Trip to a Polish orphanage in Zmiaca, Poland. An audience of approximately 200 allowed for a $1,610 donation toward the service trip.

Concert - A concert of sacred and classical music was presented by three generations of Polish Artists: Matthew Tworek, retired first violinist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Adrienne Tworek-Gryta, well-known soloist and teacher at the Villa Maria Institute of music, and Emily Tworek-Helenbrook, 12-year old coloratura soprano and student of her aunt and Patricia Alexander was presented on April 22, 2007 in Christ the King Chapel of Canisius College.

Sponsorship - Eurosim Conference Sponsorship

Scholarships - Two scholarships awarded for study in Poland to Canisius students, Sheri Labenski and Kimberly Majewski.

Faculty Services - Conference for Dr. Margaret Stefanski, Polish language teacher at Canisius College.

Polish Library Support – Journals supplied to the Papal Academy of Theology in Krakow.

Subsidy – Assistance provided for the Polish Student Association for their activities.

Ongoing promotion of publications – Continuation of the sale and promotion of The Polonian Legacy of Western New York publication and the Polish Churches and Chapels in Western New York DVD.
