


Debra S. Park MS ‘06
Associate Vice President of Public Relations
Debra S. Park is the associate vice president for public relations. She was formerly director of public relations, a position she held from 1998 until 2007. Park oversees the offices of Public Relations, Creative Services, Web Services and Government Relations. She is a member of the President’s Cabinet and is a member of the Strategic Planning, Integrated Marketing, Institutional Assessment and Crisis Response Teams.
Park is the recipient of several awards from the PRSA Buffalo/Niagara Chapter including its May C. Randazzo Outstanding Practitioner Award (2002) and two platinum "Best of Show" awards. The Red Dot Group named the college's new Web site the number one college Web site in the country in 2001. Park also received the Canisius College George Martin Advancement Award for leadership in the area of college advancement in 2000.
Prior to joining the Canisius team, Park served as director of development communications for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She is also a former senior news producer for WGRZ-TV, Channel 2 in Buffalo, NY.
Debra Park holds a bachelor of arts degree in broadcasting from Buffalo State College and a master’s degree in Communication and Leadership from Canisius College. She and her husband, Roswell Park IV, PhD, live in Buffalo with their Briards (French sheepdogs) Ch. Déjà Vu News at Eleven, HIC, HCT, whose call name is Esme, and Bijou Animal Magnetism a/k/a Maggie.
Eileen C. Herbert '04
Associate director of Public Relations
Eileen Herbert has more than 20 years experience in public relations at Canisius College and has served as the department’s associate director since 2000. Herbert’s expertise is in media relations and special events planning.She has received several awards from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) including a platinum "Best of Show" and gold Excalibur Award in 2007 for the promotion of the performance of The Disputation; a silver Excalibur Award in 2005 for the public relations effort to promote the college’s Program in the African American Experience; a silver Excalibur Award in 2006 for a workshop on media relations, which she presented to Erie County 4-H Board members. She also received an Award of Distinction in 2004 from the International Communicator Awards for a feature story she wrote about the college’s African American Experience Program.Herbert serves as secretary on the PRSA Buffalo-Niagara Chapter’s Board of Directors and as co-chair of the organization’s Scholarship Committee. She has served the community as an Erie County 4-H leader for more than ten years, serves on the 4-H Task Force and volunteers her time on behalf of the organization’s public relations efforts. She is also a member of the Pet Emergency Fund PR Committee and the college’s Fitzpatrick Chair Lecture Committee. Herbert holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Canisius College.
Audrey R. Browka
Assistant director of Public Relations
Audrey R. Browka joined the public relations team at Canisius College in fall 1999 as assistant director of public relations and managing editor of the alumni publication Canisius College Magazine. Prior to Canisius, Browka spent seven years working as a television news producer and assignment editor at WKBW-TV/Channel 7 in Buffalo, NY. In 2001, Browka’s work on Canisius College Magazine earned her a bronze Excalibur Award from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The following year she produced an external development video that profiled the college’s McGowan Learning Communities Program. The video received a gold Excalibur Award from PRSA, as well as its Platinum Award for “Best in Show.” And in 2003, the video won first place in the multi-media category at the Jesuit Advancement Administrators Conference. Browka is also a recipient of the 2006 George M. Martin Advancement Award, which is presented annually to a member of the college’s advancement staff whose initiative, creativity and teamwork brings distinction to him/herself and the college. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
Kristin E. Etu '91
Public relations specialist
Kristin Etu joined the public relations team at Canisius in fall 2002 as editor of the college's award-winning, internal newsletter Netgazette. With more than 15 years of professional writing experience, Etu has worked for such companies as the TECO Group, WNY Family Magazine and Ecology and Environment Inc. She currently operates Write Now, a freelance writing business with clients that include advertising agencies, graphic designers and corporate marketing departments. In 1998, Etu's work earned her honorable mention from the Stuttering Foundation of America for an article she wrote, entitled "Getting the Words Out: Help for People Who Stutter." Etu holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Canisius College.
