The Pre-Medical program provides students with an understanding of the various medical specialties through basic curriculum and core courses.  Students interested in medicine, dentistry, podiatry and veterinary medicine normally choose to major in biology, chemistry or biochemistry.  Students may major in any field, provided that they complete the required courses.

The Canisius Advantage
Canisius has a national reputation for the strength of its pre-professional programs in the health sciences.  A strong curriculum, careful academic guidance, and valuable clinical and research experiences combine to make Canisius students attractive to professional schools across the country.

Canisius regularly achieves 100 percent acceptance rates for students who apply to medical, dental, osteopathic and veterinary schools.  This is in part due to the Early Assurance Program which offers secure placements into the University of Buffalo medical or dental programs or the State University of Syracuse Medical School.

The pre-med program includes the Dr. George E. Schreiner Pre-Medical Center which was created to enhance the quality of the undergraduate experience for students who want to enter the various fields of medicine.  There are now more than 10 partial scholarships available to qualified pre-medical students.
