The President of Canisius College is the chief executive of the College and is appointed by and directly accountable to the Board of Trustees.  The President is also accountable to the Mission and Objectives of the College, the Charter and By-Laws of the College, the strategic plan and a careful evaluation of annual management objectives and performance during the preceding year. 

Essential Functions
  1. Lead the Board, Faculty, Students and other College relevant publics in the definition, evolution, clarification, articulation and common understanding of the mission, compelling focus, vision, goals and objectives of the College.
  2. See that the educational program of the College is well planned and implemented at a consistently high level in keeping with the purposes of the College.
  3. See that the quality of student life is supportive of the College goal of cura personalis.
  4. Provide leadership in continuous and effective long-range and strategic planning.
  5. Provide leadership in implementing plans for the financial vitality of the College.
  6. Work with the Vice-President for College Relations in being a key fundraiser and advocate for the College.
  7. Integrate enrollment management, marketing and fund-raising. 
  8. Serve as the principal spokesperson for the College.
  9. Strongly represent the College in the development of mutual relationships with the College’s primary constituencies and community.
  10. Manage the College for success as defined by the strategic plan. 
  11. Partner with the board of trustees for operational effectiveness and succession planning. 
  12. Manage the College for operational effectiveness and succession planning.
  13. Use institutional goals to drive planning and budgeting.
