Make The Best Choice
She chose Canisius the moment she stepped on campus. She saw that the professors were interested in her as a person and in what she had to offer. And, long after graduation, Sarah Brach is happy with her choice. “I was trained in the best way possible. I was given opportunities to work with professionals that other programs do not offer. Canisius was the best choice that I could have possibly made for myself when it comes to my career,” says Brach.
She earned her undergraduate degree early childhood/childhood education here and is now a student in differentiated instruction. She chose Canisius again for the professionalism of the education department, and because she values the respect the education community has for Canisius. She found that school administrators are familiar with the quality of teachers Canisius produces, so they welcome Canisius students in their classrooms. Those connections often turn into job offers.
That’s what happened to Brach. She started at Tapestry Charter School as a student teacher and now works there full time. But student teaching at Tapestry gave her more than a networking opportunity. It gave her the hands-on experience that built her confidence and strength as a teacher. “I apply what I learned at Canisius in my everyday life as a teacher. Without the proper knowledge on the ‘science’ of education, I would have not been prepared to enter a classroom and deal with all of the challenges that I face everyday,” says Brach.
