Message from Director Gary M. Everett
On behalf of the entire Public Safety staff, I would like to welcome you to the Canisius College Department of Public Safety Web Site.
The Public Safety Department's mission is to protect the educational environment of Canisius College. This mission is accomplished by deterring and preventing crimes and other incidents that are disruptive to the campus and surrounding community. Even though the college is located in one of the safest neighborhoods in Buffalo, it's always best to take precautions.
Public Safety officers are sworn New York State Peace Officers pursuant to New York Criminal Procedure Law Article 2, Section 2.10-72. Each officer receives basic law enforcement training which exceeds New York State requirements for Peace Officers. The department is staffed by a director, an assistant director, four patrol supervisors, nineteen officers, six dispatchers, and a computer systems coordinator. The support staff includes parking assistants, shuttle drivers, secretarial and student clerical staff. Officers patrol the campus and surrounding streets in marked patrol cars, police mountain bikes and on foot.
Our officers and support staff are proud of our role in protecting Canisius College. I hope that you enjoy the information provided in our Web Page. If you have any questions about the Public Safety Department, please call me anytime or Email me by clicking here.
