An investigation by the Canisius College Public Safety Department has resulted in the identification of a suspect in connection with the walk-in burglar cases that have occurred in Hamlin Park residences over the last six weeks. The suspect is in the Erie County Holding Center.
Because there may be other suspects in this case, for the remainder of the semester a special Public Safety detail has been established from 6pm-11pm each night to deter any crime in the area of Meech and Hedley Streets.
As always, you are encouraged to use caution on or around campus at all times. Please be aware of your surroundings, avoid any potentially unsafe areas or routes and immediately report any suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety at 716-888-2330.
We also encourage you to use the campus shuttle service, lock your house, keep the porch lights on and your vehicle locked at all times.

On November 16 2009 at 9:01 p.m., a Canisius student was the victim of an attempted robbery at the corner of Hedley and Meech Street. The suspect, described as a black male,dark complexion, 5'10", husky build wearing black or dark blue sweat pants with a black or dark blue hoody, grabbed at the victim's pockets causing her to fall down and bump her head. The victim ran away and nothing was taken from her.
Buffalo Police and Public Safety responded to the call and are investigating. No arrests have been made at this time.

Public Safety advises all students to stay away from any house parties in the vicinity of 2392 Main St. Last night three people were shot across the street from this address. Although no Canisius students were attending this house party, we strongly advise you to stay away from the residence and immediate area.

Buffalo Police detectives have notified Public Safety of an armed robbery that occurred last night, October 16 2009 at 11:00pm on Blaine and East Delavan Ave.
Two non-Canisius victims report that they were robbed of $80 and their cell phones by two black males who fled on East Delavan- unknown direction.
This crime is similar to our Timely Notification sent on October 15 2009.
No arrests have been made at this time.

Buffalo Police and Canisius College Public Safety are investigating the armed robbery of a student near the corner of Meech and Hedley Streets on Wednesday October 14 2009 at 11:41 PM. The student was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The individuals struck the victim and fled in an unknown direction with his wallet containing $15 and cell phone. The suspects are described as three black males. One suspect wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and the two others wore black pants and black hooded sweatshirts.
No arrests have been made at this time.
