VIN Etch Program
To help you protect your vehicle from theft, the Department of Public Safety offers the VIN Etch program several times a year. The VIN Etch program is the permanent etching of your vehicle's federally-registered
Vehicle
Identification
Number on the windows of your vehicle. Etching the VIN onto the windows of your car makes it less desirable to professional car thieves and helps recover the vehicle if it is stolen. There is no cost to you and participation in this program may save you up to 15 percent on your car insurance.

How it works
A public safety officer will electronically print your VIN on a special stencil which will then be applied to your windows. A chemical is then applied to the stencil. The stencil is removed, leaving your VIN permanently etched onto the glass. The entire process takes less than 10 minutes. The etching will not adversely effect your vehicle's appearance. Once completed you will be issued a certificate which you can present to your insurance company to recieve any eligible discounts.
