The food service area is an integral part of the residence hall community.  All students, residents, and commuters share Economou Dining Hall which is located on the first floor of the Student Center.  In addition to the dining hall, there are other dining areas which provide flexibity to work with students' schedules.

Food services at Canisius are managed by Chartwells International.  In October 2003, Canisius food services were named by Chartwells as a "Center of Excellence" based on quality assurance/food safety, customer satisfaction, client satisfaction, and other qualifications.  Out of 250+ colleges and universities that Chartwells serves, Canisius is only the 14th school to be honored with such a designation.

In August of 2002, the Economou Dining Hall opened itself to Canisius students, faculty and administrators as a newly renovated dining facility. Chartwell's, the food service provider to Canisius College, spent over $1 million to completely revamp the main dining facility here on campus.

The new face of Economou Dining Hall includes a food court-style atmosphere with traditional larger tables to accomodate groups of students, faculty and administrators, along with restaurant-style seating for the patrons' enjoyment.

Improvements to the actual preparation facilities include an on-site carvery, a brick pizza oven, and a new state-of-the-art deli station complete with fresh bread.  There is also a larger soup and salad station for the healthy eater as well as Chartwells exclusive Menutainment station where our chef prepares a meal to order for the customer.

The following are some photographs of how the new Economou Dining Hall looks.
