Selecting Your Room Preferences

Beginning February 1, 2012, current sophomore and junior teams can log-in to choose which rooms they prefer to live in. Beginning March 2, 2012, current freshmen teams can log-in to choose which rooms they prefer to live in. Begin by logging-in to the myCanisius portal and clicking on the "Housing" icon to the left.
Step 1
If you are not going to reserve your current room, select "Build List of Preferred Buildings and Rooms."
Note: When selecting buildings and rooms be sure to pick more than you think you need. The recommended number of rooms is 20 and the number of buildings is 3. If you are currently a freshman be sure to choose as many rooms as possible.
Step 2
Select and submit all of the buildings that you are interested in. Pick as many as you would like. Please note that only the buildings you are eligible for will show up on your screen.
Note: If you are a Current Sophomore and Junior team that indicated that you would like to live in the Junior/Senior Village areas next year, you will be able to view which apartments are a part of that area when you are choosing your preferences. See the photo below.
Step 3
Select and submit all of the rooms that you are interested in. You should pick as many rooms as possible to better your chances of getting to a certain building.
Step 4
Go back to the menu and select “Prioritize Your List” to rank-order the rooms that you are interested in. Be sure to rank order the rooms and the buildings into the order that you want them.
Step 5
When the process runs, it will start with your number one room, and continue down your list until it finds an open room that matches your selection. If there are no rooms on your list left, it will go to the building list and give you the first available room in building.
*Note to Current Sophomore and Junior teams: If you are intersted in being entered into the drawing for the free semester of housing, free meal plan or free parking permit, you must attend the Housing Bash on February 22, 2012. This is for current sophomores and juniors only! You will find out your housing assignments at this time. If you are unable to attend the housing bash due to class or work, you will be emailed your housing assignment on February 24, 2012.
*Current Freshmen teams: You are able to log-on and make as many changes to your choices between March 2 and March 9th at 11:59 pm. If you sign-up to live in a 3-person or 5-person apartment and there are not any remaining, you will be contacted via email on March 19, 2012 by 3 pm. At that point, your team must re-group into a 4-person team and contact Residence Life with it's new members by March 21st at 5 pm. The 4-person assignments will be sent out by 3 pm on March 22nd no later than 3 pm.
