WELCOME to Canisius College!

Dear Parents:

Canisius College President John Hurley

As a father of three children, I’ve experienced all phases of the college process, so I can appreciate the range of joy, excitement, and anxiety you might be feeling as you entrust your child to Canisius College and set them on their path to independence.

Whether this is your first or last child attending college, your familiarity with Canisius’ student services is important to your child’s success and to your own peace of mind. You can rest assured that your investment in a Canisius education not only means an exceptional academic experience, but also an excellent level of student services, personalized attention and support to ensure that your child thrives and makes the most of these years.

This guide provides you with the facts every parent should know, including information about offices and services that are available at Canisius to assist you and your children.

Our programs – in the classroom, on the athletic field, for recreation or for service – are distinguished by our Catholic, Jesuit identity. This means many things, but chief among them is our commitment to providing a living and learning experience marked by cura personalis, care for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

You have nurtured, educated, and prepared your child well for this exciting time in their lives. Trust now that Canisius’ highly dedicated faculty and staff are here at every step of the way to assist them on their journey.

Very truly yours,

John J. Hurley, President

John J. Hurley is the 24th president of Canisius College and the first lay president in the university’s 140-year history. A 1978 alumnus of Canisius, President Hurley previously served as executive vice president and vice president for college relations.
