The Office of Student Success and Retention strives to coordinate campus wide efforts to provide appropriate student-centered guidance. These efforts include encouraging high impact learning opportunities, supporting and promoting student goals toward degree completion, and developing pro-active retention interventions that foster student success.

The Office of Student Success and Retention provides an environment where students, faculty, staff and parents feel comfortable to seek assistance. We do this by:
  1. Guiding students toward solving problems and fostering awareness of college service and resources.
  2. Encouraging academic progress and persistence through our Out the Door in Four: Benchmarks for Success campaign.
  3. Supporting students who are off-track with summer school options through our Student Success Assistance Program.
  4. Utilizing student feedback in an effort to improve student services.
  5. Guiding students through the leave of absence and/or total withdrawal process when medically or personally necessary, and assisting with the re-entry process when a student on leave is ready to return.
  6. Providing support to students who choose to transfer from Canisius or leave the institution to pursue other life paths.
  7. Providing parents with online resources that may help them support their student’s success.
  8. Supporting faculty by assisting them with student issues and providing a communication system for students of concern.
  9. Providing training and online resources for faculty and staff including suggestions for connecting with today’s college student.
  10. Organizing committees that facilitate planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a successful retention plan that relates to the college’s strategic plan.
