The Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP) is a paid three-to-four week
hands on clinical elective for Army ROTC nursing students.
Attendance is voluntary; but highly encouraged. NSTP is conducted at over 20 Army hospitals in the United States, Hawaii, and Germany. Cadets receive pay during NSTP. NSTP is offered to Nurse Cadet's in conjunction with the Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC), usually between a student's junior and senior years in school. Nurse Cadet's must apply for this program with the ROTC department.
During NSTP, cadets receive experience under the direct supervision of a preceptor - an Army Nurse Corps officer who works one-on-one with the cadet. The cadet will be introduced to the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of a new officer is the United States Army Nurse Corps.
