There are a couple of options open for members currently serving in the United States Army Reserve or National Guard. The Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) allows students currently serving in a reserve component to participate in the ROTC program while serving as an officer trainee in the Army Reserve or National Guard. This provides the soldier additional training while preparing to earn a commission. The benefits of the SMP program are:
- Earn a commission while serving in the Army Reserve or National Guard.
- Receive both the ROTC stipend and E-5 drill pay each month.
- If MOS qualified, receive the Montgomery GI Bill and tuition waiver.
- Earn the opportunity to win a three or two year GRFD scholarship.
