Established in 2000 through the Peter Canisius Distinguished Teaching Professorship, the Institute for the Global Study of Religion has been at the forefront of promoting the study of different religions and their multicultural dimensions. The Institute currently directs two programs: Religion on the Road Less Traveled, which brings students to third world countries to experience religion and culture firsthand, and Conversations in Christ and Culture Series, which brings people from various religious traditions to come and speak at Canisius.
