Welcome to the Office of Service-Learning at Canisius College!
The Office of Service-Learning at Canisius College fosters the development of an enhanced learning process for students through the incorporation of community service within academic courses together with structured reflection upon that experience in the context of the course.
What is Service-Learning?
Service-Learning is an exciting and unique experience that combines:
- An academic course
- Relevant community service that enhances academic learning
- Guided reflection
Combined, these characteristics provide each student with a meaningful and worthwhile experience.
Mission Statement:
New!
- Students who opt to do service-learning for the Fall 2009 semester will be able to attend 2 peer-facilitated reflection sessions throughout the semester. The reflection sessions will be led by graduate students in the College Student Personnel Administration Program. A discussion among these students will be facilitated that helps to deepen their learning about service and connect it to course concepts and learning outcomes.
