The Office of Service-Learning at Canisius College fosters the development of an enhanced learning process for students through the incorporation of community service within academic courses together with structured reflection upon that experience in the context of the course. The mission of Service-Learning embraces the spirit of the mission of Canisius College which is to form “men and women with and for others."
The Service-Learning Advisory Board is a key component in the success of the office and its mission. The Service-Learning mission is carried out through regular meetings and consultation with the established Service-Learning Advisory Board. The Board consists of eleven members from Canisius offices, faculty, and service organiations.

The Director of Service-Learning consults with the Board members about
matters which concern the functioning and on-going development of the
Office of Service-Learning. Board members advise, offer suggestions,
evaluate and dialogue with the Director about the issues, challenges,
questions and daily activities with which the Director encounters.
