During the fall 2004 semester, Sport Administration Director Staci Carney Studesville proposed developing an organization for the Master of Sport Administration students at Canisius College. Subsequently, a meeting was held involving the interested parties within the program and the Master of Sport Administration Society was established.

The Canisius College Master of Sport Administration Society works to provide an atmosphere that fosters professional development for its members. That experience comes through networking and building relationships within the sports community as well as creating, planning and executing events. The MSA Society is dedicated to increasing awareness of the program in the community and in the academic and professional world.

The Society is in its fifth year and has approximately 30 members. The executive council is comprised of four members; president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. There is also a student council who will have a vote in all matters. The Council abides by an official constitution and mission statement.

2009-2010 Officers
President: Amber Reile
Vice President: Graham Beamish
Secretary: Kristie Ross
Treasurer: Diana Pragel
Council Members: Marissa Ponzi and Kristen DeCarlo

The MSA Society puts together atleast one volunteer or community service event each semester. Past events include, but are not limited to, Habitat for Hummanity, working at the local soup kitchen, and raising money for the Relay for Life.

The MSA Society also plans a trip biannually to cities across the United States. In the past the MSA students have visited Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and various others. During these business trips students get a chance to meet with all different types of sports officials and administrators. These extracurricular trips allow MSA Society members to experience a new city, an opportunity to create an enviroment for possible networking situations, and they expose the students to many different careers in the sports business world.
