Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to Canisius College's master's degree program in Special Education, candidates are required to submit the following items:
  1. A completed graduate admissions application.

  2. Two official college/university transcripts showing completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher (3.0 in major courses).

  3. Evidence of teacher certification, if applicable (not required for those seeking initial teacher certification along with special education certification).

  4. Two letters of recommendation.
Program Start Dates

New graduate students are admitted three times a year: Spring (January), Summer (May-June) and Fall (late August). There are no deadlines for applying.  We operate on a rolling admissions basis. Students should complete their applications at least one month prior to the term they wish to begin.

Evaluating Applications

Applications for candidates with less than a 2.7 cumulative GPA will be reviewed by the program director for an admissions decision and may include additional requirements (e.g., personal interview, GRE/GMAT, etc.)
