The athletic training major, offered through the Department of Sports Medicine, Health and Human Performance, is designed to prepare students to enter athletic training and/or allied health fields.

Accreditation
Our program is accredited by CAATE, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (formerly CAAHEP, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs).

Certification program in Athletic Training
Qualifies graduates to take the Board of Certification exam.

Minor in health and human performance
The athletic training major may be combined with a minor such as health and human performance. The program provides excellent preparation for students who wish to pursue advanced degrees in cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and other related fields.

Dual degree program - BS/MSEd
Provided on a custom basis for interested students, this program awards a bachelor’s in athletic training after four years, and a master’s in education – usually physical education – within six years.
