Who is my advisor?
FreshmenEach entering Freshman is assigned an academic advisor who assists the student in the preparation of his/her initial course registration by explaining the College's curriculum and discussing the particular program of study that interests the student. During the Freshman year the student will meet with an advisor at least twice each semester to discuss performance, student needs, available resources, and scheduling selections for subsequent semesters.
Transfer StudentsTransfer students are required to meet with an Associate Dean prior to their first semester at Canisius College. Which Associate Dean they meet with is determined by whether their major falls into the College of Arts & Sciences, Business, or Education. The Associate Dean will assist students with registration for their first semester at Canisius. Students must then request an advisor in their major by contacting that specific academic department.
International StudentsPart-time StudentsPart-time students are required to meet with an advisor, and they are encouraged to use the services of the Student Advisement Center in selecting proper courses and understanding the resources that are available to assist them.
Matriculated students see the Associate Dean of the school in which they are enrolled.
Non-matriculated students should see Blair Foster, Dean of Academic Records & Registrar located in the Student Records Office.
Probationary Students Undeclared StudentsStudents who have not yet selected a major after their Freshman year continue to receive advisement by the Student Advisement Center.
Upper-class StudentsStudents who have selected a major should meet with a faculty member within the department of their major.
