I need allergy shots, can the nurse at the College give me my shot?
Several allergists in the Western New York area have agreed to provide allergy injections for Canisius College students. Each allergist has specific procedures, clinic hours for the injections and billing practices. It is the student's responsibility to contact the physician's office and inquire about these practices. A list of allergists can be found below.
Transportation to and from the allergist appointments will be the responsibility of the student. The Student Health Center does not arrange transportation. All of the allergist listed below are either a subway ride or bus ride from the College. If the student is in need of cab service, Liberty Cab at 877-7111 can assist.
Billing for the injections must be discussed with the allergist's office directly since billing is based on the student's insurance, and is also specific to each office. Some allergist's will require a consultation before the first injection. Billing is also based on administration procedures and serum production. The Student Health Center does not have any information on rates and billing practices. Please check your carrier to determine how reimbursement will be handled and if you need to obtain an out of plan referral for services rendered by another physician. The allergists in Western New York will require these referrals and insurance clearance prior to injection.
All of the allergists listed below treat students regardless of age, including those under the age of 18 years. Your parents may have to sign an authorization for treatment prior to the injections.
