Trash is collected on different days depending on the street.  In order for the City of Buffalo to pick up your trash, you need to buy a special garbage container from the Department of Street Sanitation.  Recycling is done at the same time as trash collection.  You will also need to buy a recycling bin from the Department of Street Sanitation.

Some important rules to remember about trash collection:

  • Garbage must be placed outside for pickup no earlier than 7:00 pm the night before, and no later than 7:00 am on your trash collection day.
  • Trash bins must be removed no later than 12 hours after it has been collected.
