Barcelona is a multicultural and cosmopolitan city. It is the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain, after Madrid, with a population of 1,621,537. The city boasts beautiful architecture—it was awarded the RIBA Royal Gold medal in 1999 for this. Barcelona is the only city to be awarded this honor; it is historically given to an architect. Barcelona is one of the world’s major global cities as a leader in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts. Primarily a business school, IQS offers over 50 undergraduate degree programs. Courses available for study include: Economics, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, Communications, and Business Administration and Management. Graduate courses are offered in Research in Economics and Business, and Global Entrepreneurship and Management, among others. IQS offers an intensive Spanish credit-earning course free of charge before the start of the regular semester. However, more than 25 undergraduate courses are taught in English, in addition to course offerings in Spanish. Students also have the option to take courses in Spanish, and then complete papers and final exams in English. Many customizable options are available.

Fees (to be paid to Canisius): Canisius tuition (approx.. $15,990), study abroad fee ($500) and mandatory health insurance (approx. $180 for fall and $225 for spring). These fees include Canisius and IQS tuition and program costs. Costs to be paid directly by student: Single room in a college residence hall can vary from 500 to 700 euros per month (approx. $700-$980) depending on the room and location. Other options include shared apartments that range 300-400 euros per month (approx. $420-$560). Staying with a host family is only offered while attending the intensive Spanish course at the beginning of the semester. Transportation, visa cost, meals and miscellaneous expenses are additional. Currency conversion is estimated at 1 euro = $1.40 |
