Eichstätt, Germany
The Catholic University Eichstätt (CUE) is the one and only Roman Catholic university in the German-speaking world. Compared to other German universities it is a rather small institution, with approximately 4,800 students; nevertheless it is the biggest private university in Germany. The school compares to Canisius, both in size and mission. Founded in 1980 by the current pope Benedict XVI, the Catholic University frequently has been rated "best university in Germany" by students, faculty, and independent reviews.
The CUE is lauded both for its academic quality and its excellent student-teacher ratio. The campus is settled in a quaint section of Eichstätt and most courses are taught in a former 18th century palace, overlooking a vast residential park - a pleasant atmosphere for learning!
