Oviedo, Spain
Founded in the 16th century, The University of Oviedo has more than 40,000 students, 500 of whom are foreigners. Oviedo is the capital of the principality of Asturias. Its pre-Romanesque architecture sits among spectacular mountains and rugged coasts. Oviedo is a cultural mecca and a very walkable city which offers the best in modern living, in a fairly mild climate just five hours by bus to Madrid.
Study abroad students will take five courses in the Program for Foreigners, ranging from language to history and literature, all taught entirely in Spanish. Special options are available for education or computer information systems majors.
Students live with host families. Living with a specially chosen host family will enhance the experience and maximize the immersion into the Spanish culture. An on-site director is also available to assist students with any needs throughout their stay.
