Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro is a privately funded nonprofit Jesuit organization. It is one of the largest and most prestigious Brazilian universities, with approximately 14,000 undergraduate students, 2,500 graduate students, and 500 international students on campus.

Fee (to be paid to Canisius): Canisius tuition (approx. $15,990), study abroad fee ($500) and mandatory health insurance (approx. $270) Costs to be paid by student: Family home-stay (Approx. 1050R$/mo, about $580 US) includes breakfast. Access to kitchen and laundry facilities may be arranged with the family. Students may also find their own shared apt. (Approx. 600R$-1200R$/mo, about $330-$660 US) depending on the district and kind of housing. Registration fee to be paid to PUC-Rio is 400R$ (about $220) and an extension fee of 200R$ (about $110) will be applied to students studying for two semesters.
