Short Term Programs and Summer Abroad

You have the opportunity to study abroad over the summer! By participating in these two to six week programs, you can earn three to six college credits. Students please note that your Canisius College financial package and any Canisius College scholarship will not travel with you for summer study abroad.

All Summer 2015 Applications are due February 2, 2015.

Students wishing to study abroad on a non-Canisius program must let the Office of Study Abroad & International Partnerships know as soon as possible.  All students who wish to go abroad must turn in an application to the Study Abroad office.

Casa de la Solidaridad - El Salvador

This program focuses on public health in El Salvador and solidarity with Salvadorn people.  Students take coursework in Spanish and Public Health, and also apply their knowledge into a praxis (volunteer) site.

June 1-June, 28, 2014: French Culture Spring Session.  This course is designed to rapidly improve French language skills, give an introduction to French culture, and give students an insight into Arts, Fashion, and Cultural Management.

July 1 - July 28, 2014: International Financial Markets and Derivatives; Cross Culture Marketing; European Integration:  Mechanisms, Implication and Perspectives; International Human Resources Management; Responsible Management and Corporate Governance; Managing Luxury Brands; Mergers and Acquisitions in an International Context; French Language from Beginner to Advanced 

July 1-July 15, 2014: Postgraduate International Summer Academy. This program is open to students with a bachelor's degree, some familiarity with corporate strategy, and an interest in current global issues.  

Ecole de Management of Strasbourg , France

Session I: June 2-27, 2014; Session II: June 16-July 11, 2014.  Take courses in European Integration and Business in Europe, as well as French Language and Culture.  Visits to corporate locations as well as European institutions are included, and there are optional cultural excursions on the weekends. 

Berlin School of Economics and Law, Germany

Sessions in Business, Law, Economics, and German.  Sessions run from June - July and differ depending on the coursework.  

Catholic University of Eichstätt, Germany

Session I: June 23 - July 12, 2014; Session II: July 14 - August 8, 2014.  The program is intended for students and professionals in the Humanities, especially in German Studies and Political Science/Economics.  

Early registration in March is highly recommended because the program is usually fully booked by this time.

University of Dortmund, Germany

June 1 - July 30, 2014:  The International Summer Program (ISP) at TU Dortmund University is designed to offer excellent students innovative, hands-on study opportunities in a wonderful study abroad environment.

National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland

Program Dates: Irish Studies: June 25 - July 24, 2014; Education in Ireland: July 4 - July 27, 2014; Irish Language: July 19 - August 16, 2014

Lorenzo de' Medici - Florence and Rome, Italy

Sessions in June, July, and August:  This program is well-suited for the undergraduate student seeking to study abroad and earn academic credit, or the independent or adult student seeking a meaningful educational experience at one of our two campuses. The summer months also offer a variety of cultural and artistic events taking place in and around all LdM campuses.

Summer Program in Japanese Language: June 9 - July 19, 2014

Universitidad Pontificia Comillas - Madrid, Spain

Summer Program Dates: 

May 19-June 13: Spanish Language and Culture.  This course is designed for students with an intermediate knowledge of Spanish who wish to increase their fluency and learn about Spanish culture.

June 2 - 27, 2014: Courses offered in Business, Marketing, Management, European Union, International Law, and Human Rights.  Courses are in Spanish, so a high intermediate to advanced proficiency in Spanish is required.

Universidad de Oviedo- Oviedo, Spain

Summer courses are available in Spanish, grammar, conversation, business, literature, and history.  Courses consist of 20 hours of class per week and are complimented by extensive cultural activities and excursions.  Subjects are available at different points throughout the summer between May and August.
