athletics

Consistent with the Canisius mission to educate the whole person, we are committed to provide our student-athletes with a competitive Division I athletic program. Canisius is proud of its student-athletes both on the field and off. The college is consistently ranked among the top schools on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, for which an athlete must hold a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Bill Maher ‘89, director of athletics, has developed a blueprint to recreate Canisius athletics as a proud rallying point for students, alumni and the broader Western New York community. Canisius President Rev. Vincent M. Cooke, S.J. has pledged the resources necessary to support those plans. The renovated Koessler Athletic Center showcases our athletes’ skills, while more fans than ever can cheer on the Griffs from the comfort of padded seats.

Private support helps make improvements like these possible and provides our athletics program with fundamentals including travel, uniforms, academic tutors, and scholarships. Donations to Canisius College athletics are coordinated through the Blue and Gold Club. For more information about Canisius College athletics, visit the Canisius athletics Web site.
