Endowed academic programs are essential to compete more effectively with other institutions to attract leading students and give them the tools they need to succeed.
At times, endowed academic funds are also used to support students' research efforts especially in the humanities and social sciences. These endowments are also used for specific purposes such as traveling abroad.
Funds allocated to endowed academic programs can also be established to underwrite specific teaching and research activities.
Endowed professorships provide the college’s best faculty with the resources to create innovative programs that enhance undergraduate teaching through exciting initiatives such as interdisciplinary projects, scholarly travel, experiential courses and the incorporation of technology into the classroom.
While highlighting the vitality of a particular academic department, each new professorship also helps to ensure Canisius' future as a leading academic institution in the Northeast.
The Development Office at Canisius College will work with you to create a lasting tribute of an endowed academic program or professorship. For more information on endowments, contact Marion Mittler, director of donor relations & special events, at 716-888-8217 or
