The program in adolescence education provides teacher certification in grades 7-12.  Canisius offers certification in ten disciplines at the adolescence level: English, mathematics, social studies, French, German, Spanish, biology, chemistry, physics and business. 

Since all courses are taught at the graduate level, once certification requirements are complete, only three additional courses (9 credits) are needed to complete the master's degree.  Many of our students come back after their first year of teaching and complete the master's during the summer term.

The program provides candidates with the attitudes, and knowledge necessary to become leaders in the field of education.  Canisius is recognized in Western New York and Ontario for its excellence in teacher preparartion.  Your Canisius experience can truly give you a competitive edge.
