The Tutoring Center provides academic support in the form of one-on-one tutoring to all undergraduate students. Student and Adjunct Professor tutors are employees of Canisius College. Each tutor is assigned a weekly work schedule and must be present in the Tutoring Center during scheduled hours.

A tutor’s primary responsibility is to assist students with various academic tasks through a variety of tutoring techniques.

Tutors’ secondary responsibilities include reading appropriate training and instructional material to improve tutoring skills. In addition, tutors assist with the general operation of the center. Tasks include reproducing reference materials, greeting students at the front desk and organizing tutors’ reports.

Opportunities for development and support occur during the tutor’s scheduled work week in the form of training, instruction, regular staff meetings and individual conferences with the graduate assistant.
