When Buffalo, New York was hit with a surprise snowstorm in October 2006, nearly 57,000 trees were damaged or destroyed. In light of this unprecedented storm, Carvings for a Cause was established as a way to reuse damaged and fallen trees. A local chainsaw artist transformed 8-12 foot tree trunks into depictions of historical and social figures from WNY, the sale of which will be used to re-tree WNY.
