Video Institute Outreach to High School Students: Canisius College Video Institute students, who have each developed their own production and media literacy skills, are able to reach out and share their knowledge and experience with high school students in Western New York.Student outreach teams introduce media literacy, production, and project-specific topics to high school students in two different ways: through presentations made at area high schools and through high school workshops at held Canisius College.High School Visits:

Presentations given at area high schools focus on current Video Institute projects while introducing many aspects of media literacy through exciting, multimedia presentations. Canisius College students may present a video that they have produced, and discuss production issues, or their presentations may focus on other topcis of interest, including journalism, advertising, audience analysis, or the impact of the media, among others. High School Workshops at Canisius College:

In addition to visits to area high schools, the Canisius College Video Institute hosts workshops on campus for high school groups. These workshops are tailored specifically to each group, and may include first-hand experience in our television studio, editing suites, and other facilities. During the workshops, students may learn how to operate the studio cameras, aid in directing a shoot, learn how to present themselves as on-air talent, or get an introduction to non-linear editing.
