New Year, Countless Life-changing Opportunities
Daphne Sietz ’18 begins her last semester at Canisius fresh from an amazing study abroad experience in Galway, Ireland. Daphne also had the opportunity to participate in a service immersion trip to El Salvador and lead a trip to World Youth Day in Poland where she explored her personal spirituality. Daphne lobbied on Capitol Hill for issues related to social justice as part of the Ignatian Family Teach-In held in Washington, DC.
Closer to Canisius, Daphne volunteered with ENERGY, an afterschool program for refugee children through WEDI, a nonprofit that helps refugees kick start their own businesses on the West Side of Buffalo.
“Canisius has given me many important opportunities, from internships to traveling the world. I have made lifelong friendships here, too. I feel most thankful to be instilled with Canisius’ Jesuit values. These traditions have shaped my perspective on the world and my future goals.”
Canisius Fund donors make these types of opportunities possible for students, like Daphne, as Canisius Fund gifts go to work immediately to provide life-changing experiences and a transformative education for our students.
