2017 Sports Hall of Famers Named
Family, friends and members of the Canisius community gathered in the Koessler Athletic Center on Saturday, February 10 to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2017 Sports Hall of Fame inductees. The Sports Hall of Fame honors former outstanding varsity athletes who competed in intercollegiate athletics, as well as people who have made outstanding contributions to Canisius athletics in a non-playing capacity. All honorees have greatly enhanced the athletic tradition at the college.
Kudos to the 2017 Sports Hall of Fame Inductees:
- Mary Boller ᾿07, volleyball
- Scott B. Maybee ᾿94, swimming and diving
- Ryan V. Punitri ᾿01, soccer/ice hockey/volleyball
- Kevin W. Ross ᾿07, MBA ᾿13, lacrosse
- Gary M. Everett, retired chief, public safety, Rev. Paul M. Dugan, SJ, Award
The Rev. Paul J. Dugan, SJ, Award will be permanently displayed in the Canisius Sports Hall of Fame.
“Being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame with the Dugan Award is an honor for me and also very humbling,” says Everett. “My wife, Sue, and I and our children have been blessed many times by Canisius College. If I could turn back time, I would return to my first day as a Canisius officer and work 33 years all over again.”
This year’s awards were presented at half-time during the men’s basketball game versus Quinnipiac.
