Canisius Among Most Selective Schools

July 10, 2013

Buffalo, NY – Canisius University is among the top 50 most selective colleges and universities within a three-state zone, according to Buffalo’s Business First. The weekly business-related newspaper used the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics to analyze the difficulty of gaining admission to four-year colleges. Canisius University ranked 46th out of 100 in the Buffalo Zone, which includes Western New York, Upstate New York, and nearby sections of Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Business First’s selectivity rankings were based on three statistics: the percentage of students who applied to a specific college and were admitted; the score on college admission tests that outranked 25 percent of all applicants to a given school; and the score on college admission tests that outranked 75 percent of all applicants. The formula compared each college against the national averages in all three categories.

One of 28 Jesuit universities in the nation, Canisius is the premier private university in Western New York.
