Canisius Announces 2014 Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award Winners

BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University has announced the 2014 Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award winners.

Richard D. Reitsma, PhD, assistant professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies, is the recipient of the employee award; Mrs. Constance Eve is the recipient of the community award; and Vance Lewis Stinson ’16 and Jasmina Tacheva ’14 are recipients of the student award. Honorees were recognized during the college’s annual Women and Gender Studies Luncheon on Thursday, March 13.

The Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award, presented annually by the Women and Gender Studies Program at Canisius, recognizes individuals at the college who have made significant contributions to women on campus. The award is named after its first recipient, Dr. I. Joan Lorch, professor emerita of biology, who was a driving force behind the establishment of the college’s Women and Gender Studies Program.
