Canisius Planning Golden Jubilee Gala

March 20, 2016

BUFFALO, NY – The Canisius University Board of Regents will commemorate 50 years of the Regents Scholarship Ball when it hosts a “Golden Jubilee” gala on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Hyatt Regency Buffalo. Cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m.; dinner is at 7:30 p.m. The event is the principal fundraiser for the Canisius University Board of Regents Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support to promising students who otherwise would not be able to take advantage of a Canisius education.

Independent Health is the presenting sponsor of the evening, which will include dinner, dancing and the raffling off of a variety of valuable prize packages. The Regents Scholarship Ball will also include the presentation of the Canisius University Board of Regents Distinguished Citizen Achievement Award. This year’s recipient is Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker, who will be recognized for her contributions to the civic, cultural and economic well-being of Western New York.

A 1982 alumna of Canisius, Dedecker is president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, a 501(c)3 public charity that manages 775 endowment funds for individuals, families and organizations. In her role, Dedecker leads a focused growth and impact strategy dedicated to connecting people, ideas and resources to improve lives in Western New York.

Canisius University Board of Regents members Annette Dispenza-Kajtoch ’88, MBA ’90 and Brian Murphy ’95 are serving their second consecutive year as co-chairs of the Regents Scholarship Ball, tickets for which are now on sale: Tables of 10 are available at the Magis Level for $5,500; the Ignatian Level for $3,500; and the Griffin Level for $2,500.
