Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award Winners Announced

BUFFALO, NY – Canisius University has announced the 2012 Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award winners. 

Susan K. Sedia ’11, administrative associate in the management office, is the recipient of the staff award; Margaret A. Zimmer ’12, a senior marketing major with a women’s studies certificate, is the recipient of the student award; Ellen M. Barnum, adjunct professor of fine arts, is the recipient of the faculty award; and Luanne C. Firestone, associate campus minister, is the recipient of the administrator award. Honorees were recognized during the college’s annual Women’s Studies Luncheon on Friday, March 23. 

The Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award, presented annually by the Women’s Studies Program at Canisius, recognizes individuals at the college who have made significant contributions to women on campus. The award is named after its first recipient, Dr. I. Joan Lorch, professor emerita of biology, who was a driving force behind the establishment of the college’s Women’s Studies Program.
