First Canisius Conversations with President John J. Hurley held at Citi

January 24, 2017

The first Canisius Conversations with President John J. Hurley was held on January 20, 2017 at Citi in Amherst, NY.  Nearly 100 alumni enjoyed an intimate discussion with President Hurley about the past, present and future of the college.

President Hurley provided an update about the college’s strategic plan and noted his gratitude for the support of the large contingent of alumni at Citi.  A lively question and answer session followed the talk.

Alumni Association Board President Judy Bassanello`83 and Alumni Board Member Susan Polvino `82 - who hold management positions at Citi - led the group on a tour. The delegation from Canisius - President Hurley, Bill Collins, vice president for institutional advancement and Deans Daniel J. Borgia, PhD, Elizabeth A. Gill, PhD, and Jeffrey R. Lindauer, PhD - heard first-hand from key staff members about the importance of a diverse work force, particularly across academic disciplines, and the benefits of a strong relationship with the college. The event concluded with a networking reception.

Co-hosted by Judy Bassanello ’83, Susan Polvino ’82, the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Griff Center for Academic Engagement at Canisius, the series was created to engage with fellow Griffs at companies throughout WNY.  Additional events are planned with a wide array of industries throughout the area.
