Alumni work on Alec Baldwin’s “Crown Vic”

Margaret Bohan ’18 and Erin Gaddi ’14 enjoyed a taste of Hollywood earlier this summer when they worked on “Crown Vic,” a police drama produced by Alec Baldwin. Bohan served as a set production assistant and Gaddi was first assistant camera for the scenes shot in Buffalo. Watch for the film’s release in 2019.

Tickle MS ’09 Helps Others Chase Their Dreams
Alumna is named new executive director of DREAM Adaptive 

Julie Tickle MS ’09 is the new executive director of DREAM Adaptive. The nonprofit has been helping people with disabilities get outdoors since 1985. Tickle is looking forward to building DREAM Adaptive’s reach, including its volunteer force, and working to stabilize its funding.

She previously worked with Paralympic athletes.

“Joy the Drummer” Returns Home to Rock New Era Field
Williams ’10 is Part of Superstar Beyoncé’s Band

Venzella Joy Williams ’10, also known as “Joy the Drummer,” is part of Beyoncé’s all female band.  She returned home to rock the sticks during the On The Run Tour II with Beyoncé and Jay Z during their stop in Buffalo on August 18.

“I never fathomed playing at the stadium,” said Williams in an interview with Channel 2’s Claudine Ewing. “I’m very grateful for all the people who supported me and who helped me develop as a drummer.”

Edbauer MBA ’12, DO Takes on Leadership Role in Healthcare
Alumnus is new senior VP and chief strategy officer for HealthNow New York Inc.

Michael J. Edbauer MBA ’12, DO, is the new senior vice president and chief strategy officer for HealthNow New York Inc. He previously was president and CEO of Catholic Medical Partners.

Edbauer is responsible for guiding strategy and growth, as well as leading the research and operational planning and delivery teams for the $2.5 billion company.

Alumni earn prestigious actuary designation

Actuary is one of the most highly-rated jobs in America, according to U.S. News and World Report, Jobs Rated Almanac and CNN MoneyU.S. News ranks actuary as #2 on its 2018 list of “Best Business Jobs.”

But this is no surprise to Beth Ann Sardina ’07, MBA ’09 and Eric J. Hezel ’06.  Both are actuaries at BlueCross BlueShield of WNY in Actuarial Services and at the top of their careers.

Sardina and Hezel recently earned the prestigious designation of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). Receiving this designation, Sardina became the first female Fellow at BlueCross BlueShield of WNY.

Alumnus Recalls Hours Spent in the Canisius Library
O’Malley ᾽72 likens his fondness for books to the sirens in Odysseus

During his time as a student at the college, Adjunct Professor of English Thomas O’Malley, ᾽72 spent many hours studying between the stacks in the Canisius library.  He fondly recalls those times during which he would easily get sidetracked from his research.  He discovered that he was learning nonetheless. O’Malley chronicled his experiences in a “My View” article for The Buffalo News.
