March 18, 2014

BUFFALO, NY − Richard A. Wall, PhD, vice president for academic affairs at Canisius University, announced the appointment of Jeffrey R. Lindauer, PhD, as dean of the School of Education and Human Services, following a national search. Lindauer replaces Michael J. Pardales, PhD, who left the college in July 2013 to become vice president and chief learning officer at St. Joseph’s College. Lindauer will assume the position of dean on June 1, 2014.

Lindauer, who has served as interim dean for the last eight months, has been chair and associate professor in the college’s Department of Kinesiology (originally the Department of Physical Education, Health and Sport Studies) since 2008. Prior to Canisius, Lindauer was an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

“Jeff is clearly committed to our core values and dedicated to developing and enhancing new programs, creating an atmosphere of excellence, and collaborating with a wide range of constituents, including our local partnership schools,” says Wall. “His student-focused teaching, progressive leadership roles and extensive, applied research experience make him an ideal fit for both students and faculty.”

Lindauer has more than 15 years of experience in higher education. As an associate professor of kinesiology at Canisius, he teaches courses which include physical education and health, movement education and capstone seminar for teachers. During his time at Canisius, Lindauer led the development of the undergraduate major in health and wellness and implemented an eight-week professional development curriculum for physical educators from Shanghai, China.

Lindauer holds a PhD in health, physical education and recreation from the University of New Mexico, an MS in exercise science and sport science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a BA in physical education from Wartburg College.

Canisius University is one of 28 Jesuit universities in the nation and the premier private university in Western New York.
