Music Student Takes Center Stage in "La Boheme"

BUFFALO, NY - Canisius University student Jena M. Abati ’14 will star in Nickel City Opera’s production of Giacomo Puccini’s “La Boheme” at the Riveria Theatre in North Tonawanda on Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 at 2:30 p.m. 

Abati is a junior music major at Canisius. The music major prepares students for a variety of careers or graduate studies. Courses are designed for students with diverse music backgrounds and all levels of experience. The program introduces students to the literature, theory and technology of music. Extensive performance opportunities are available to students of all majors. In addition, the ArtsCanisius Series brings members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) to the Canisius campus. La Boheme (“the bohemians”) is the timeless Italian opera which inspired the Broadway musical “Rent.” It is the story of young, idealistic artists who dream big, have trouble paying their rent, get together and break up.
