Reunion Weekend is Next Week!

May 23, 2019

One minute I was talking about family and trips abroad with President John Hurley, and the next I was on the dance floor with classmates and faculty. The Reunion Tent Party has something for everyone!”

Reunion Weekend including the legendary Tent Party is right around the corner!

An exciting and memorable weekend is planned and one that you won’t want to miss. Bring your appetite to the most talked about event, Tent Party, on Friday, June 7. It will feature dinner from numerous local food trucks, including Lloyd, Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs and Loose Cannon, all owned by Canisius alumni, and desserts from Sweet
Melody’s and Sweet Hearth. Enjoy wine from alumni owned 21 Brix and beer from 12 Gates Brewing.

Live entertainment will be provided by The Plagiarists, a four-piece rock-pop cover band that plays today’s hits and yesterday’s favorites. Their cohesive sound and killer vocals will have you singing along and dancing all night long!

Alumni, family and friends are also invited to celebrate the life of the late Rev. Paul J. Dugan '45, SJ, longtime moderator of athletics, at a memorial Mass on Saturday, June 8 at 4 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. Please note that this replaces the originally scheduled alumni Mass with marriage blessings. Join us following Mass for our Alumni Family Social in the Palisano Pavilion.

Father Dugan served Canisius for more than four decades including as public safety chaplain and alumni chaplain. The spiritual growth of students was of the greatest importance to Father Dugan, affectionately known as “Doogs.” He was also well-known for his wonderful sense of humor. His signature saying was “I’m spreading the joy.” But for anyone who knew him, Doogs was the joy!

Father Dugan passed away in Murray-Weigel Hall on the campus of Fordham University in the Bronx, NY on May 11. He was 95.

Donations in memory of Father Dugan can be made to the Rev. Paul J. Dugan ’45, SJ, Scholarship Fund, Attn: Institutional Advancement, Canisius University, 2001 Main Street, Buffalo, NY, 14208 or by visiting www.canisius.edu/give-canisius.
