Upcoming Training Courses for Payroll Professionals

BUFFALO, NY – The Canisius University Center for Professional Development, 300 Corporate Parkway, Amherst, will offer American Payroll Association (APA) PayTrain Fundamentals and Mastery courses. The fundamentals course will be held on Tuesdays, September 11-November 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The mastery course will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 5 – April 9, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 

These courses were designed by the APA to meet the specific educational needs of payroll professionals and those involved with payoll-related businesses. Both courses are designed to prepare participants for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) exam. 

Both courses cover the following content (the mastery course will cover the concepts more in-depth):

  • Payroll concepts
  • Paycheck calculations
  • Fringe benefits
  • Payroll reporting and employment taxes
  • Record keeping and payroll practices
  • Payroll accounting
  • Management and administration
